Dwell – Brooklyn Designer Ashira Israel Creates Eco-Friendly, Bespoke Concrete Objects

Architectural designer and artist Ashira Israel runs the multidisciplinary Brooklyn practice In.Sek, equal parts design studio, manufacturing facility, and research lab.
In.Sek’s specialty is concrete, and each product is carefully cast by hand, ensuring that no two objects are alike. By using solar power in its workshop and donating sawdust to local farmers, the studio aims to minimize its environmental impact while creating objects that last.
